The country hosts some rare species of animals like the silverback mountain gorillas as well as unique birds and insects in the tropical forest of Nyungwe.

The mountain gorilla is highly social, and lives in relatively stable, cohesive groups. Get ready for your gorilla trekking experience.

DAY01

Arrival in Kigali

Arrival at the Airport and be transferred to your Hotel.

DAY02

City tour Kigali

8:00 am : Drive to Kigali Genocide Memorial
10:00 am : Drive to the Campaign Against Genocide Museum
11:30 am: Drive to Kimironko Market and experience local shopping for fruits, vegetables, clothes and handcrafts.
12:40 : Have your lunch at a local restaurant
13:40 : Visit to Inema Arts Center
14:40 : Drive to Kandt House Museum
15:40 : Drive to Camp Kigali Memorial
16:00 : Drive to Mt. Kigali for Horse Riding/ Kigali Viewing on top of the Mountain

DAY03

Transfer to Huye

Transfer to Huye. En route, visit the Rock of Kamegeri, Kabgayi Basilic, Nyanza King’s Palace, National Ethnographic Museum in Huye as. Have your lunch in Huye, do an afternoon city tour of Huye town, and make a visit at Huye Mountain Coffee. Overnight in Huye.

DAY04

Transfer to Nyungwe

You will be transferred to Nyungwe from Huye. En route, experience the scenic view of the tea plantations and head to Nyungwe for Canopy walkway experience and village visit in Gisakura. Overnight in Gisakura.

DAY05

Nyungwe National Park

A full day in the tropical rainforest of Nyungwe Forest National Park. In the morning, we will go for an exciting primate walk in search of the habituated chimpanzees. Afternoon, go for hike at Isumo Waterfalls. Overnight in Gisakura.

DAY06

Nyungwe National Park – Colobus Monkeys and Tea factory visit

After early morning breakfast, we return to the safari park, this time for a nature walk for viewing colobus monkeys. Afterwards, go for Tea factory and tea tasting. Overnight in Gisakura.

DAY07

Lake Kivu experience

Drive from Nyungwe to Karongi for Lake Kivu experience. En route, visit Bisesero Genocide Memorial. In Karongi, you will visit environmental museum, then go for lunch. Make an afternoon boat trip and visit to Amahoro and Napoleon islands. Overnight in Karongi
Relaxed evening and enjoy the stay near the lake.

DAY08

Transfer to Rubavu

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Rubavu. En route, have stunning views of the Kivu Belt Road. On arrival in Rubavu, you will go for a hike to Mt.Rubavu and make a city tour. Afterwards, go for your lunch in the restaurant. Visit the beach, hot springs and make a visit to the potters’ community. Overnight in Rubavu.

DAY09

Rubavu to Musanze

After breakfast, we proceed to one of the most beautiful safari destination of the country: Musanze. It is the area with rich montaine ecosystems, from bamboo forest to open grassland and swamps. Make a visit to the twin lakes and enjoy a boat trip, bird watching. Overnight in Musanze.

DAY10

Gorilla Trekking Experience

Today you will have the opportunity to spend some time with the endangered mountain gorillas. You will make a beautiful hike through the green landscape and hills of the Virunga Volcanoes. Spend a magical hour with these amazing creatures while your guide will explain more about the family and their behaviour. Return the lodge in the (early) afternoon for relaxing and enjoying the breath taking view.
Overnight in Musanze.

DAY11

Golden Monkey Tracking

Breakfast and then head for the Golden Monkey Tracking: Originally thought to be a subspecies of the blue monkey, this playful and gregarious primate is now classified as a species in its own right and with a single known viable population in the Virungas; this is one of Africa’s rarest primates. The monkeys can often be found playing and feeding in the rich bamboo forests where tourist can expect a close encounter with these beautiful animals. Have lunch and make an afternoon visit to Ibyiwacu Cultural Village. Overnight in Musanze

DAY12

Dian Fossey visit

Visiting Dian Fossey activity takes a 3 -4 hours activity to the graveyard where several of Dian Fossey’s favourite gorillas were buried and Dian Fossey is also buried near the graves of her beloved gorillas. The clients can have a look at the facility- labs, research centre and meet the researchers plus staff who works on the Dian Fossey project. Afterwards, return to your hotel and overnight in Musanze.

DAY13

Visit to Sina Gerard Museum and head to Akagera National Park

Early morning breakfast and head to Sina Gerard Museum. Afterwards, continue your trip to Akagera National Park for the low-lying undulating plains of Akagera National Park the home to elephant, buffalo, giraffe and zebras, more than a dozen types of antelope species, and elusive lions and leopards, you with a stopover in Kigali for early lunch before proceeding to Akagera arriving for an evening game drive thereafter heading to your lodge for a cool relaxed evening, dinner and overnight in the park.

DAY14

Akagera National Park

Have breakfast and then enjoy a game drive experience in search of animals including elephant, giraffe, antelopes, zebras among others. After lunch head for a boat cruise on Lake Ihema for 2.5 hours, look out for crocodiles and hippos and over 40 water bird species, this is also the best way to view the park’s abundant water birds including breeding colonies of noisy and cormorants and open-bill storks. Overnight in Akagera National Park.
